Garden City Revitalization Plan
As part of the current Board of Trustees’ established goals for 2014-2015, the Town of Garden City is in the beginning phases of a major revitalization plan for 8th Avenue and Garden City. In January 2015, the Board of Trustees, Town staff, citizens and the Garden City Business Association participated in a two day assessment visit with a team from Downtown Colorado Inc. Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) is a nonprofit, membership association committed to building better communities by providing assistance to Colorado downtowns, commercial districts and town centers.
Established in 1982 as Colorado Community Revitalization Association and now dba Downtown Colorado, Inc., the organization provides four core services to organizations and individuals engaged in downtown and commercial district development: technical assistance, education, advocacy and program participation. The team facilitated a community presentation at the conclusion of the second day. Please read the complete slide show presentation to see the team’s recommendations and innovative ideas.
Because of the importance and relevance of this project including future planning and community education and participation, we are creating this page on our web site dedicated to our revitalization efforts. Here you will find any documents that pertain to the plan, upcoming planning sessions and the results of those sessions, opportunities for community involvement, upcoming projects and events, links to partnering organizations and other important information pertaining to Garden City’s future.
We encourage business owners, citizens and others to get informed and get involved! This is an exciting time in Garden City and the decisions we make now will impact the Town, its citizens and businesses in the immediate future and for decades to come!
